Welcome to Chester

Chester sparkles with a magical heritage all year round and is the perfect place for revitalising breaks at any time.
As the nights draw in, why not experience the more mysterious side to the city centre and take a night-time journey around the eerie haunts of Chester's past on our Ghosthunter Trail.

Christmas will be particularly enchanting this year, with Midwinter Watch, Lantern parades and new street decorations to light up the city centre.

Archaeological excavations are now taking place at the 2000 year-old Roman Amphitheatre - the largest stone-built arena of its kind in Britain - with finds being put on show in a new exhibition at the nearby Chester Visitor Centre. The building offers one of the best views of the site from its top-floor gallery.
